Yes. I have nothing on my CDL even though I had previous tickets on my class D license from three years ago.
What really is a "clean MVR"?

Some states go back further than other states. The oldest one I have seen so far is Indiana that went back to the early 80's. -
You will be questioned as to why your DL has been "expired" for several years. Just like you'll be questioned about any "gaps" in your work history. It doesn't mean you're a bad guy, but you have to admit, seems a little strange to NOT renew your license. Even if you're not driving or were out of the country most people use their license for ID purposes. I can't seem to go a week without using my license somewhere to ID myself. And your driving record isn't anything to brag about, IE, speeding tickets and driving without insurance. If I was the guy that OK's a new hire, I'd say no. The reason being, seems like you do not attend to details very well and you need to in this business. Good luck.

Curious as to why you put "expired" in quotes. Yes, it was "expired." If it was revoked I would have just said so. After all, we are anonymous here. Seems like half of the threads on this site are from people who have blemishes in their past and are looking for a fresh start, trying to get info toward that end. For example, sure I've had speeding tickets! Who the h*** hasn't, especially when they're young. I believe my last speeding ticket was maybe 5 years ago. Many companies say they'll hire a person who's had a DUI as long as it's been more than 7 years ago. So, I'm more irresponsible than the DUI guy?
And, I have a state ID. Every state issues a state ID for citizens who want them. It works perfectly for every ID-necessary situation. -
The company I worked for as a shuttle driver asked these questions:
Have you been driving at least 7 years?
Have you had more than 2 speeding violations in the last 3 years?
Have you had more than one accident in the last 3 years?
Has your license been revoked or suspended in the last 5 years?
Every company has its own rules, but these are the kinds of questions that companies will be asking. -
Most companies go back several years..not sure how many, but I do know for CDL's they will ask about any dui's or dwi's , careless , reckless be at least 3 years or more..and if you ever did have a CDL they would want to know about accidents involving rollover's or accident related deaths....

It would be best to speak to recruiters about your driving record and explain the gap(s) for whatever reason.
For example, if you go to your local DMV and pay for a copy of your 10 yr record it will show every ticket, date of issue/expire, revocations/suspensions, active or inactive for that state only. If you have been issued in another state in the past 10 years you can get the same info for that state. You won't be sending companies the reports, they will pull the same info you received according to your past/present DL numbers. Doesnt matter if you have tickets, suspensions, revos, gaps or whatever..its all about what and when is on that report.. good or bad.
This is info you will have to submit to most any company beforehand.
If you ask for opinions on here you may get 10 different ones from 10 different people...
None of which you may want to hear..
Good Luck -
