    Muscatine Iowa to Stockton CA

The two routes I'm looking at are 80 all the way

Or 80 to 76, down to 70, then us50 picking up at 80 in fernley NV.

My option, I can only fuel at pilots/fj, loves, or ta/Petro.

I was thinking of taking the southern run because I've never taken 50, I could hit the loves in Redmond Co before getting into 50, full tanks should get me to Reno at 6mpg?

    Thoughts?

When I was doing Reefer I ran to Stockton all the time.

I'd be coming from the east coast. I was in a C15 powered T660,.. average MPG was only 6 mpg as well. My route was 80 all the way through Reno, over Donner,. thru Sacramento down to Stockton.

After topping off my fuel in New Hampshire, additional fuel stops were La Porte, Indiana then Laramie, Wy and finally Reno, Nv. After fueling up in Reno, that would get me in and out of Cali. I was forbidden to fuel up in Cali. My truck had 150 gal tanks, even so these fuel stops stretched out and I was always down to near 1/8 tank by the time my fuel stops came up.

Running 80 seemed like the most logical route to me. Running down to 70 and back seems kinda out of the way in my opinion, plus traffic though there was never a pleasant experience for me.

Even now,.. I avoid Colorado like the plague.

I was thinking of an alternate route that I've not taken before for some different scenery. Was all. The experts say stick to 80, so that's what I'll do

I'll tell you this much. US50 across Nevada is a long, long lonely road. If you have any kind of trouble out there you"ll be waiting a long time for help to get there.

93 thru NV is a treat. Also loved the Extraterrestrial Hwy and all of the cattle crossings it offered. I'll look forward to US50, if I ever get the pleasure to be able to run it.

They can keep 70 thru Colorado, tho. Well, maybe I'll run it again. Just one more time. :)
