As you know, Uber fired me. Lyft alone is not worth it.
Just got a job offer at Amazon warehouse. They are hiring like crazy. I will bring home $870 for working 6 days and 60 hours a week. $870 after subtracting all taxes. I don't know what to do. Say yes to Amazon, or eat from my savings for 6 weeks and get my CDL with Swift ASAP. Hard decision. I really like trucking. Long term it is better than Amazon for sure. Please advise!
    Thank you!

Not sure why you are asking someone other than yourself that question. You are ultimately in charge what your future holds. Maybe some of the Amazon warehouse workers on this site can chime in.

You really like trucking? I think maybe you really like the media portrayal of trucking. Look, you're asking a lot of questions, and that's very good.

Trucking is brutal for the first few months, especially. After that, it relaxes to 70 hour weeks, sleeping in noisy, stinky filthy parking lots, always hoping that clown backing in, keeping you awake with his beep beep back up alarm doesn't scrape your fender mirror off. Trying to eat healthy from grease pit food, peeing in disgusting filthy restrooms, having to wait for 5 or 6 hours to get loaded and unloaded, driving through blizzards.

It's a gas. I love it, actually, but seriously, it's NOT for everyone, and it's NOT easy, for the first year or two.

Oh, I forgot to say: I love it NOW. I've had my CDL over 3 years, I got mine through the Swift academy in Lewiston, ID, end of Aug, 2017. I have taken many months off, 3 different times, because I was so discouraged, I didn't think I'd ever drive a truck again.

NOW, I love it. Ask my wife, she'd tell you what a miserable mess I was for the first year or 1-1/2 years. Not kidding. BRUTAL.

I am single. I want to see our country and make money too. I am willingly to invest time and energy in trucking. In 3 years I want to be happy too like you.

Good. I'm not trying to discourage you, in fact, quite the opposite, I am absolutely rooting for you! But, please understand, the first year is a rough ride. I don't know the actual numbers, but the vast majority of new drivers do not last the first year.

You CAN do this, please just be prepared mentally and emotionally. Learn NOW how to fall asleep WHEN YOU WANT TO. With noise. Learn to handle the stress, because as a new driver, yeah. Stress.

You have good resources on these forums, and you're using them. Keep it up. You got this.
