Yeah slow down, piss the idiot off more and see what happens.
This morning I witnessed an accident where the impatient idiot was on the rear of the truck with less then five feet, you could see how close he was, the other idiot driver kept slowing down until both were going 35 mph, and they then played the stupid game of how more slow you can go, this was on a four lane divided highway. So eventually the idiot tailgating decided to make a move and he ran a car off the road to pass the idiot in the front, once he got next to the other idiot, they played the "no you won't pass me" game. ThIs crap went on until the tail gating truck cut the other idiot off and that idiot slammed on his brakes only to cause on hell of an accident.
I have a long email going to the safety department of both of these trucks company with a accompanying video of my dash cam, there was no excuse to play games by either of them and one company who I know the head of operations will most likely fire the guy, he didn't even stop after causing the accident.
One thing I tell other drivers to do is to not do a thing, it is the people in the other truck that is the problem and you don't want to get into a pissing match with anyone, but once you get into these pissing matches with other driver because you can't act professional, then it can cause all kinds of problems for everyone.
What should I do about being tailgated

I know this won't work in a big rig, but in my 4 wheeler when I am being tailgated, I just hit the windshield washer and spray 'em. They back off EVERY time.

Brake check? You should do the opposite and leave extra room in front of you. Enough that you do not have to brake hard if traffic suddenly stops. Yes, it would serve the tailgators right if they hit you but it will also leave you with an accident on your mvr. Even if it is ruled non preventable, 0 accidents look better for you when looking for a better job.
