in the meantime i will continue to operate my truck in the safe and legal manner. the boss can say whatever absurd things he wants. if its illegal and absurd i will ignore it. i am looking for another job.
What should I do about being tailgated

IF you guys say that i picked a "winner" you would be absolutely correct, but i had not idea what i was getting into when i took the job. you dont know these things till you take the job, unless you have been able to ask drivers before you take the job. unless you are in the industry its difficult to do that with a small local company. not like i can ask away at a truck stop.

I know some people it bugs to no end and I don't understand that. My wife is one of those people. We can be going along in the 4 wheeler and she will start commenting about somebody tailgating us, I wouldn't have even noticed them. -
I demand a lot of empty road in front of me, that's pretty easy, I'm in a slow truck and I don't mind slowing down more.
And like I said, I'll slow down until they pass, usually they're a fast truck with a dead tired driver that doesn't think to pass, but I want them away from me, they can tailgate and kill someone else. -
####, AD, already looking for another job, is this gonna be #4 or 5 of the first year or so. You have said each new one was gonna be the gem. Perhaps there is no "perfect" company and it doesn't exactly look good on the old resume when you go through so many jobs in such short time. Eventually ppl will discover the only common thread is you....
Lord Pablo and homeskillet Thank this. -
so im making all of this up? its only in my head?

i have held jobs in the past for 6 years or longer. i am willing to put up with allot, but lack of work and lack of care in regards to safety aren't things im willing to put with for very long. the boss actually complained i was taking a few seconds on the scale to buckle my seatbelt before i moved. LOOK, that truck doesn't move an inch till im buckled. dont like it, too bad.
i am a very safety orientated driver, inexperienced perhaps but i put safety as priority number #1. apparently my boss doesnt feel the same way. our values dont match. not a fit.
i already told him.
#1 safety, not killing anyone including myself
#2 protect my MVR
#3 deliver the loads as efficiently as possible so long as number #1 and #2 are met first
this is what i live by, reckless behavior doesnt fit in anywhere on that listcybill234 Thanks this. -
homeskillet Thanks this.

So I'm confused, do you refuse to speed or do you drive 35 in a 30 zone in a large commercial vehicle?
jethro712 Thanks this. -
@ad356 You are "married" with kids. It is time to grow up.
Lord Pablo Thanks this.
