AND this is why my teams have rest periods away from trucks more often than my solo drivers.

You two are adults, don't blame the truck because you know the game. Get it into your mind that this is how it is supposed to be if you want to make money, schedule time away from the truck for at least a weekend, take up individual hobbies that don't involve being out of the truck, and so on.

Get a lawyer involved for what?

You being fired at an At Will employment company?

Seriously they don't need to give you a reason why they fire you, just telling you your fired is good enough.

As for the off duty thing, there is a lot about you being off duty while the truck is broke down, you are supposed to be ready to drive when the truck is ready and if you are drunk (people in general, not you) and they call, then ***** right it is their business at that point.

Take the booze out of the equation and what do you have?

2 adults representing my company getting into fights where law enforcement has to be called. That’s bad business.

This isn’t your first fight, is it? This has happened before.

“Well, duh Six! It’s happened before, just not to this extent.”

Exactly. That’s why I’d fire you two. The next time could cost me money or happen at a customer. You might think you have a handle on things, but you two LACK control. And respect.
Remember when the football player was fired for KOing his old lady on the elevator? His lawyers weren’t able to do anything. You two had either change your ways or keep losing jobs.

    Six back quiet.

The both of you had it coming. It don't matter who paid for the hotel. Certain crimes will get you in big trouble. You have to represent your company's name. Businesses can't have their name soiled by people who are getting into domestic assaults. Add in the alcohol, that makes it worse. The fact that you got in a fight says you can't handle yourselves appropriately. Now your husband will cause the company to leave money out there because he will have court dates. People have to understand that you have bigger obligations being a CDL holder. Domestic violence of any kind is a big deal. That said, don't get any attorney, chalk this up, go work somewhere else, do better.

you were an embarrassment to your employer, its as simple as that. I would have fired you also.
keep in mind, in the future, you may be 'off-duty' in the eyes of the D.O.T., but to your employer you represent them wherever you go and what you do, unless you are at your own residence or your own personal vehicle, and dont ever stop at a liquor store, peep show, massage parlor, ##### house, etc., while wearing your company uniform between the yard and your home/hotel motel.

Sorry, you should not have been involved in a fight. Neither one of you. You both put your freedom and future ability to maintain a good medical situation sufficient to continue working for your ex employer at risk.

I do not do fights. Especially as a licensed carry and old enough to understand that there is absolutely nothing worth physically fighting for in public. It only brings trouble on several levels. I actually enjoy violence to a fault, but those days were left behind when I grew up sometime during the early 20's This is not a school playground etc. And my situation is further limited by medical work recently. Even if I wanted to take on Mr Bully, it would cost me far more and is not worth the trouble. If cornered I will have to draw. But that is far as it goes. Thats just my opinion on it.

As far as your assertion that off duty is off duty, it is not a license to play or drink or even drug in some areas of the USA these days. When that Off duty time is up, you have to be rested and ready to drive. Particularly as a team of two. Might be a load of blood plasma on a very short notice and worth more than money to those waiting on it to see if they will live or die waiting on it.

I have fought in the past during trucking and you will find it is a necessary applied just enough to end the problem preferably before any law is called in areas where there is no law at all.

And finally but not last, you appear to have been lucky not to be trespassed from that hotel which itself might be part of a National Chain depriving you of options should have need of them again in the future.

I can go on and on, but this is quite enough. You get the idea. Im sorry you have had the troubles. And on your time off away from a truck, you two should be ashamed for misbehaving that much. Come on now. Whats matta wid ya?

You will move on eventually, you got fired done. And over with. You will find someone else to run for. If you two are still together.

Tx Countryboy and D.Tibbitt Thank this.
