My theory on that is if you learn to drive a tanker fresh out of school you should be ok.....I've drove a smooth bore tanker in South Korea...50 million people in a country the size of the state of Georgia. Some of the craziest driving I've ever seen in my life. I had no problems, issues or accidents...and no the military did not turn me loose they trained me...
Once again.. Greatwide is just a name.. They are ran by cardinal.. Call any facility.. They now answer the phone Cardinal greatwide.. 2 weeks ago it was greatwide cardinal.. 3 months ago it was greatwide.. First of the year the last thing changes DoT numbers and rebrand trucks.. Besides greatwide won't hire students on that side right now.. been there 8+ years
The best thing i ever did was ''buy my own''...Looking way back i can not believe i was Manipulated for so long as a Company Pee On being treated like a Pig... My ''great'' life i have today is due to the fact i bought my own..My hometime went up to 80% of the time.My money went up 4x and life was just alot better. Today you could not give me a company job,i would burn my CDL before i ever let them companies get there greedy palms on me again...
To the OP: I respect the experience you have put in over seas but I would still consider it wise to put in at least a year in the states and get used to our highways, DOT regulations, logging, ect. Better to be prepared for the unforeseen events that accompany any new venture. I'm sure there are plenty of Tanker companies that would take you immediately, especially with the new push to hire vets that the states are experiencing. You'd just be that much more prepared for success if you take the time.
Also, if you haven't already, give the tanker threads on here a look and see what might be a good fit
