A female officer is there only to fill a equal job opportunity quota. Pathetic story.

I would place a bet on that one. Most trucks now have fairings so low to the ground that you can't even find a place to crawl under it. But I suppose perfect people can do it. Being perfect, they would never miss anything.

I guess I'd rather get a inspection while sitting on the side of the road twiddling my thumbs then being stopped for a random 15 minutes from a appointment. But thats just me, its all part of trucking.

I'll admit I've never give much thought to the driveshaft and u-joints, but then again I've always been a company driver and have never put enough miles on any truck to have it come up. Do the U joints have a recommended replacement milage?

Yup! When they fall out, change em!

Just messing with you. I've been told that you should rebuild the driveshaft every half million. All joints and the carrier bearing.

i inspect my u joints every week when i crawl under my truck and grease it. i also would have likley noticed un-equal length slack adjusters. i would also notice a loose nut on a yoke going into the power divider as it will cause excessive play as the yoke is what pre-loads the bearings

    BUT

still ###### of them to inspect you while your broke down on the side of the road.

with regular inspection/grease you can easily go more than a half mill on u joints. I don't ever replace them till they show signs of needing replacement or if the drive shaft is off the for other service.
