Nope. There's good reason to have some range before it triggers anyways. I also use JJ Keller but I have it set to 5 miles before it will automatically switch to driving.

I've been in some pretty large power plants where the staging yard might be a mile up their private road from where I'm unloading or loading. When you spend all day moving around in there you are never actually driving on public road so it isn't counted as drive time.

So do you think that fmcsa is going to allow a five mile limit with out duty status change?
If not how are drivers supposed to deal with your exact situation ?

I forget the wording used in the rule but its there. That driving time inside a warehouse, plant or mine or anything that isn't a public road will be on duty not driving.
