The ELD shows that you just have to much work and you don't want to believe it. If you can't slow down because you have others jobs to do after driving 70 hours. You realize that probably a problem also, if your getting paid to work and not logging that also.

Sounds like you just have to much work. You have workEd yourself into a problem. You can just drive faster if you choose to. You can't blame the ELD for that.

The eld does not force you to speed. You are making that decision, not the eld. You could just as easily make a different decision.

The problem is, most guys have twisted their brain into thinking they have been running perfectly legal. They can't grasp the difference between looking legal on paper and being legal.

If drivers would have stopped getting busted for running over hours and faking asleep at the wheel killing folks the government would not of been pressured by voters to pass the eld mandate.

Guess you weren't around for the 10 hours in 16 with the ability to split log effectively days. Plus therm were only needed 8 hours off. But on the flip side there was no reset. When you hit your 70 that was it, you sat till your recap caught up with ya.

You still have Personal Conveyance option, but you would have to drop trailer go home and then go back and hook up to trailer. You are supposed to return to the same location you started Personal Conveyance. Other wise they will claim you really going to get another load. You can even take your trailer if empty but if you get stopped you have to convince the inspector you really coming back to same location. That might be a very hard sell.

The OP is one hundred percent correct and I'm good with Elogs lol. I think some of you are missing his point. He already said he can run it legal by increasing speed. It's why some are trying to push speed limiters. Think about it. The only variable left is speed. I will go to my grave saying HOS is the problem and not how you record them, but the op just layed out the most compelling argument I have heard. Makes me wonder what everyone will say when we face a speed limit mandate.
    And the sheep say baaaaaaaaaaaah

No you can use personal conveyance if you are not under load or dispatch, and you do not have to start from where you ended.also you can still be hooked to a trailer as long as you are not advancing to another load.

Working after the 70 is not a problem because I run the truck every two weeks so I do a 34 reset before I take off again.
I'm an old school guy and I love to work believe it or not.
It's like a hobby for me.
I'm am the exception not the rule.
I work like hell when I need to and then take 3 months off in the winter time in Florida .
I do what everybody will tell you can't be done.
I run a part time trucking operation under my own authority that is profitable.
I am going to be 55 years old this fall and have everything I own paid for with enough money in my investment account to retire years ago but I choose not to because I love what I do.

In my post I said nothing about speeding.
I said if I want to return home legally to get back to work I
Would have to run faster than I normally would.
So believe it or not running elogs if I want to return home legally I will probably have to start running 70 mph instead of the 63- 64 mph I usally run to make up ground.
This creates two problems for me my fuel mileage will be down and that's money out of my pocket and I just don't see that increasing my mph from 64 to 70 is in anyway safer.
Your saying that an eld doesn't make me run faster is not accurate.
    It's a necessary evil.
Much like if your were to tell a cancer patient who has lost there hair that cancer didn't cause the hair loss the cure did so stop taking the drug.
    Again a necessary evil.
