You must log the home terminal time, I lived in the east but the home term. in the central. When you are driving a load west, you get to have an extra hour but when your driving east, you are already an hour behind. Check the FMCSA handbook, when you are debating your point to the DOT, if you can show them the place in the handbook that referances your claim you will probably win that debate! Have done so in the past. drive55cat

Always keep in mind bing 1 hour over is a log violation, being more than 1 hour is very serious because DOT usually only gives 60 minutes but many on the road will not be so gracious.

Home terminal log it indianapolis time zone lol

I hope he is doing good on logs, I am tired of getting rid of drivers over logs -
LogsRUs he is doing good on logs but he did get a message saying he was missing some when we did a trip to cali over easter weekend I remember helping him scan those logs he went back into trans flo online and no they were not there so some times it is trans flo or trip paks fault if they are scanned because we both say them go through

Heya, Logs!! I promise, if I come work for your company, you'll never have to fire me because of my logs. Maybe because I steal your whips and chains, though.
Of course, if I don't use DDL, I'll be in trouble. Horrible handwriting... and I don't wear a watch. I'm not bad at telling the time by the sun - but the degree of accuracy required for the logs is.. well.. not really possible that way.
Earlier in this thread, somebody was suggesting that 'home terminal' was - according to DOT - equivalent to 'company hq'. I find that a bit hard to deal with. If it WERE the case, there would be zero need for the 'home terminal' field on the log form to begin with! -
If they have a log department for each of the time zones then it isn't a big deal to us. WHat would be a big deal to me is if we had some drivers logging CDT, EDT etc. and having to adjust for each driver. I know more than you asked for here. Sorry I rambled
f)(8) Time base to be used.
(f)(8)(i) The driver's duty status record shall be prepared, maintained, and submitted using the time standard in effect at the driver's home terminal, for a 24 hour period beginning with the time specified by the motor carrier for that driver's home terminal. -
Ahhhh, I see. The COMPANY defines the home terminal. I was assuming it would be the terminal you are based out of. (for instance, if I were to work for Werner, I'd be based out of the Denver terminal)
Now I understand. Thank you -
I did not do the smileys in the letters prior to the DOT regulation above. It's funny I just copied and pasted them and wala there is a smiley in there

It all depends what company you work for, Logs is correct of course but I worked for a outfit for more than two years that wanted us to use the time of the term we ran out of, even though the home term was in another time zone. If that happens, what are you going to do? Tell the company they are wrong, good luck with that.
