Kumho klt02e steers (RR 78 )
Michelin Xone line energy d drives (RR 89)
Kumho klto2e trailer (RR 78 )
Will switch to X one XTA (RR 75) for the drives when these wear out and probably try Bridgestone r197 (RR 78 ) in the steer position (the kumho's don't ride that well).
What tires?

I like Goodyear far more than Bridgestone unless we are talking trailer tires. G399's lasted over 200k, the Bridgestone I replaced them with barely 120k. My G572 drives have been on here for 5 years now. http://www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/threads/tires-question.160028/page-2
Never been rotated, and I'll need the rear 4 before winter. Front 4 are still at half tread. G572a's will be going on to replace the 4.Highrisk21 Thanks this. -
mileage drop much ??
-
Fuel mileage? If you ask about fuel, my answer would be NO. My mpg still between 7 and 7.5
-
We drop 3-4 tenths every time get new tires. I want to find a tire that eliminates that.
-
That's because the deeper the tread depth, the more flex/squirm. Every tire has its best rolling resistance when it is worn out.
-
It also has to do with the revolutions per minute going up as the tire's circumference gets smaller. If you run a 40" tall tire with inch deep tread and run it down 4/32", new the circumference is 125.6 inches and worn down, it's 120.1 which is 5.5" difference. This creates the illusion that you're getting much worse fuel mileage with new longer/taller tires. Bald tires have the least rolling resistance also which is why in the early days of LRR tires, manufacturers were just selling tires with half the tread on them as LRR.

I always bought recaps. The kind that were one solid cap. Never an issue. 250,000 miles out of them. $100 a tire back in the early 2000's. Never rotated, just replaced the rear 4 more frequent than the front as they wore much faster
