For the savings I'd run the goodyears. I have 399a steers and g572 drives and am happy so far. The price you quoted seems cheap. I paid $412 for my drives and then got $50 per tire rebate back and thought that was cheap. I think they're both good tires if properly cared for. For me the price I got on the gy's was my deciding factor.

I like Goodyear's too. I've had good luck with the 399 steer it's a good tire and works well on my truck. Just bought 8 new 11R22.5 Marathon LHD's and 2 G399 16 ply steers for $3,785.69 they even delivered them to my house for that. Which was a 90 mile trip one way.

I just had my steers off, 399a's, to put counteract in them and take the centramatics off (rubbing valve stems) and they put both tires on balancer just to check and one called for no weight and the other like 2oz. I'd say that's alright with about 60k on them. Both are wearing perfect.

Mind sharing where you got those? I am seriously considering Goodyear steers. I am going to need some in a a couple of weeks.

Commercial Tire in Nashville. They have a sale now on 16 ply G399. $325 each that includes FET. TN sales tax adds another 9.25%. Out the door two loose unmounted steers $711.14 Goodyear lost the Penske account to Bridgestone and so they have 100,000 extra 16 ply G399's to get rid of. They're on sale until the end of the month.

I bought a few tires from American Tire the past few years but never really felt like I was getting the best bang for my buck. After Commercial quoted me I called the guy at American Tire and asked him about the Penske thing and he was like oh yeah I should have mentioned that.... He couldn't match the prices. I figured you'd have ag exemption on sales tax? That would put a loose pair of them at about $650 out the door.

I asked about the exemption & he told me it wasn't a problem. Who did you deal with at Commercial ?

The manager, his name was Fred W. Nice guy he actually hopped in a pickup and delivered them to me down here himself. Was saying something about how hard it was to get good help these days. I dunno if buying only 2 tires they would have brought them down here like that though. You might have to go get those but never hurts to ask.
