:biggrin_25520:First day of orientation at KLLM Atlanta
I don’t know what the thing is about the Atlanta thermal but the people I have met with so fare have been nice.
First thing was the doctor to be poked and prodded and then to the terminal for paper work, paper work and than more paper work.:biggrin_2554:
Back tomorrow for round two I just want to get this week finished and get on the road.

Well, I'm hopping on a plane in a few hours, heading to orientation in Atl. See you there if you're there...

Bring a list of all the employers that you put on the online application/prehire before coming for orientation. The facilitator will require all hires/rehires to fill out another application on orientation. Make sure that you can account for employment history for the past ten years before orientation day. I am attending orinetation in Atl so i had to take the drug screen and physical at 6:45am before we went to the terminal. Besides the physical and drug screen, you will also be required to take an agility test. This will include lifting a crate thats 75Ibs from the floor and placing it on the shelf several times. You may also be equired to do a push and tug test with weights that weigh about 100Ibs. I also has to crawl on both hands and knees forward and backwards several times. You will also be required to run a simulated crank handle test for about 30seconds or so. Once the drug screen and physical is complete, its off to the terminal for the paper work.

    Baack Thanks this.

After a mountain of paperwork and extreme overload of topics like company policy to the use of qualcom, we graduated and every student in the class got assigned a truck or trainer. Four of the new hires were drivers with experience and all of them got trucks. Nine of us were newbies so we all got assigned trainers and by Tuesday every one of us should be on the road. Talked to many drivers while at Orientation both male and female. About 70% of the ones i talked to were happy with the company. Lunch is provided by quizno's so be prepared to be 'subded' out by the time orientation is over. I probably should say 'Quiznoed' out.

    Bring your A Game.

You will sit in a room with a bunch of other drivers for a few days. While youre watching those goofy truck safety videos, and company propaganda, they will walk in and call people by name. You will never see these people again.

Dont be late to class. They will send you home.

You will hear people complain about something and their sentence will began with these words, "Well, the recruiter said..."
Avoid these people. They will try to draw supporters. They and their supporters will be gathered together at the Greyhound bus station.

Their screening process is designed to prevent idiots from getting into a truck. Somehow, some idiots will slip through and will do something really stupid...like get drunk and rowdy at the motel. Do not allow anyone working or staying at the motel to associate you with the idiot.

In the little road test, DRIVE LIKE YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT. You got one shot. Make it count. 1/3 of the people in orientation will be going home because they cant drive around the block.

Shut up. Do not talk. Do not give out any personal info unless asked by the office personel.

When you get into the truck with your trainer, even tho he/she is the biggest moron you could ever meet, you have to keep in mind that youre trying to truck, not make friends. Lose your cool and you have a long way home.

    Travel light.

    Happy motoring.

KLLM is not hiring anyone if they do not have trucks for them. When I got my upgrade last month, along with several others in my orientation class, we all got trucks assigned to us the day we finished our training. I was in Jackson, MS at the terminal, but had to go to the Portage Yard (in Indiana near the Chicago area) to get my truck, but I got one. I simply rode with my trainer on another load they gave us to Chicago and he dropped me off with my gear at my truck. They then gave me a load to pick up nearby that delivered near my home to get back for hometime. I assure you, if you are hired and complete your training, you will get a truck. None of this B.S. like some of the other companies I've heard about, who make you stay on with your trainer another 4 to 6 weeks "till they get some trucks". Yeah right. What they're doing is using you and your trainer as a "Cheap Team" None of that with KLLM. I was told the truth about everything. From my first phone call to a recruiter until my current paycheck. No lies, no deception that I've found. If they tell you they will do it, they will do it. If they say they will not, they will not. That's my experience.

Newbie, I keep looking for you every truck we pass out here. We've spent this entire month out here in the east. My hubby turned in his notice, so once we get back to California, that is it for us. Good luck to you.

Yeah, I've been looking for you guys too, along with the Toad and Ledbetter. Hoping to meet all of you someday. Met lots of nice (and helpful) drivers from our company. Hope your hubby does well in whatever he's going to, even though I'm sorry he's leaving KLLM. Well stay in touch on the board at least and you never know.
Right now I'm doing my 34 hr restart just outside of Memphis. I want a run, but I can use some rest. Later....
