Well normally with tankers you are gonna be loading and unloading at least once a day so your gonna be up there multiple times a day anyway.

I'm sure Schneider has different way if doing things. But if you have the same trailer and you did the Pretrip inspection when you picked up the trailer and everything was in place and secure, I don't see the need to climb up there every day a extra time when your gonna be up there loading and unloading anyway, and you can visually look at the trailer ends when your up there and see the caps in place. Other then the 2 caps and your manhole cover there really isn't anything on top of a trailer for you to Inspect on a daily basis. At least on our single compartment smooth bore trailers we have. We have 2 caps, manhole and 2 vents up top that's all.

This has not been my experience, load or unload every other day for me.

Training time varies. It depends on you and how good you are. ATIhiker was good so his training was short. Worst case 5 weeks. As far as on top of the trailer, you just check your caps and dome lid really, no more than a couple of minutes. Unless your are unloading, then I may go up more.

Maybe but pumps, valves and hoses can freeze. Winter isn't a cake walk for anyone.

Oh those frozen hoses are terrible! Especially if they have just a little product in them that freezes. You can't bend those things to save your life!

Hey Gang, I'm in the first bulk training class for Houston right now (training was in Dallas). They are actually still finishing the building remodeling. Started here last Monday with the physical tests (squatting, lifting, balance, HEART RATE). Class started on Tuesday with lots of paper work and Schneider rules/regs. The other days have been half day in classroom and half day in and around the truck. So far it the training is very good, especially considering most of the guys leading the class have not done this before. All have been TE's, but training at the training grounds is different and they are learning also.
I'm still convinced this was a good choice. Looking forward to getting on the road with the TE late next week. I'll be glad to help out with questions if there are any.
Great information already posted, thanks Ethos.
