Im looking to buy a 2001 frieghtliner xl with 200,000 miles from a buddy who wants out of the OTR work. I only have a class A with minimum experience. he is selling me the truck with some plates that allow me to work for a company without having my own DOT & ICC# and using theirs. Is that permissible ? can i do that without even having my own business name? please help.
what tools are needed?

Sure, you own the truck and lease it on to a company doing their authority etc.
-
Tools? Just some chewing gum, baling wire and duck tape.
Gizmo_Man Thanks this. -
do you mean
1,200,000 miles ? -
Tools... AAA

Have you never been to a repair shop in a truck? It all depends on your capabilities really, but the best tool to have is $100 bills. it will always get the job done and you won't get dirty.

The odometers don't last that long, someone probably replaced it 200,000 miles ago

All you need is one of these. If the front end don't work, the back end gets-r-done. Also tends to make panhandlers and lizards go the other way.
