I've driven the "big ones" ( Donner, Vail, Wolf Creek, etc) in all kinds of different weather. they all made me nervous till I'd actually got through. But the hill that really scared me, and still does, isn't even a mountain at all, its a little stretch of US 20A going eastbound in western NY. 2 mile, Curvy little 9% grade that drops into a little town called Warsaw, 45,000 in the box, no Jakes, and no real warning, first and last time I ever made that trip. Almost took out three cars, and several houses. still gives me shivers.
What was your 1st mountain pass you drove on. Or the 1st that scared you!everybody

What are you a moron? You started down that hill in 9th @ 60 mph? No wonder CDOT and CSP are now enforcing the mandatory 35 mph limit for all CMV"s over 26,000K GVWR with $250 to $500 tickets. Your lucky you didn't hit and/or kill anyone. As for riding it out, that's even more stupid. There's a runaway truck ramp there for a reason. Some baffoon tried to ride out a load of tomato's last summer. Killed himself, injured several others, and shut the highway for 7 hrs during cleanup. Pay attention, Colorado isn't playing games anymore. There are too many anti-trucking groups in this state and they are gaining momentum, let someone see your post and it'll add more fuel to the fire. -
