If your equipment is older or paid off I am not sure it is worth the premium for collision insurance.

One of the few benefits of being a company driver is that you get to drive new equipment.

You got that right. Fleet maintained is ########. There is a reason the large fleets sell their trucks when they do. They buy them brand new while they have a full warranty and do the absolute minimum they have to keep the warranty intact. They dont plan on keeping them so why go the extra mile. They sell them off when they get to a point where problem could start to pop up and cost them money with breakdowns. Fleet trucks are driven by company drivers, some of which could care less about the longevity of the equipment. ( i said some, so hold off on the hate mail )

i worked for a very large trucking company , one of the biggest , i dont want to say the name but , b service at 30k , most came in with over 40k on an oil change , i even seen some with close to 60k over , but managment said it was cheaper to go that long on an oil change if it cost them an engine here or there it was still cheaper for them to go that long on oil changes {16k trucks or so}......however , they did use good oil when it was ready for a service not a cheap low spec oil , it was regular oil no synthetics .....

odly enough , im buying a fleet truck this week ....

Well first it depends on the fleet and finance company. JBH got booted years ago from FL lease program because of maintance issues. But most companies follow guidelines to the letter. Too much to loose. Plus it is leasing company that has mechanics go over it and repair on return.

And companies are not rolling trucks BECAUSE of repair issues. They are selling accounts because of that and that they will have a fleet that has a certain average age. Plus the purchase price/lease terms make it attractive. In many cases they are making a lease payment that is the same as if they bought a three year old truck.

Fleet Maintained still means something. If it is a Volvo lease they have the highest standards. Most larger fleets have a Volvo employee on site keeping track of records. Smaller fleets have other programs dictated by Volvo.

Pacar is also tough but they track based on parts ordering.

FL is all over the place and negotiated on a deal by deal basis.

2006 international 9400...72" sleeper , isx435 10speed eaton, nice blue color , it came from western express , extremly clean truck if it didnt have miles on the odometer you would think its a new truck thats how clean it is inside and out .

i used to work for a cummins shop and 2 fleets so i know what to look for and couldnt find anything appearence wise, mechanically its sound , im taking a big risk , but i feel ill be ok , and since i used to work for cummins and have a laptop with insite on it if i need to do anything i can do it myself just short of an inframe ...actually i have done inframes on isx so im sure i would even do that myself .

ill agree with bill on some of the fleet stuff , the big company i worked for while they stretched oil changes out , if there was any type of oil leak anywhere it was fixed right away , same with wheel seals and brakes , nothing was chanced , the terminal i worked at had a detroit tech there everyday , as well as a cummins tech ... there where volvo engines but never really anything wrong with them ....
