That was the dilemma I faced. Basically what you have is a situation where why would someone pay you $9k for a truck with a down motor when truckpaper is full of older running trucks for the same price? Everyone knows what it costs to inframe a CAT and it ain't for nothing that they call the kits silver, gold, and platinum. From the dealer's standpoint the truck is basically worthless and to put money into an inframe would have them upside down. There's always the salvage yard but they're not going to give you $9k for a parts truck. I hated sinking the money into mine considering it was more than what the truck would sell for but it was the least painful of several painful options. Luckily mine wasn't SDP.

Yep thats how I feel there is not a option that makes me smile def leaning toward the full platinum rebuild that comes with the warranty. I wander does the rebuild fix a lot of the issues that the truck was having before it dropped a valve

Another huge expense that needs to be considered in the rebuilding process. Is your dpf filter destroyed from two turbos coming apart

    Get it back home.
Look for secondhand engine from a salvage yard.
Trade it in for a 2012 or younger model truck.

But to spend 24k on it...............that's crazy.

The best i can find on a trade is 4500. so that would be me having to carry over almost another 24k onto a higher note for a truck.
