Well, I was wondering if vibration would have that effect.

The way you wrap the straps you're pulling all of the coils into the center one. And then on the 2nd one from the back you can see how the strap is putting some downward pressure right in the center of that one as well. 20160810_141859.jpg

I have had poorly banded slinkies fall over sideways. That's a pain in the rear. But never had them roll or rotate.

Nope. 2nd load ever of these and they seem pretty stable.

With poorly banded ones would you just add an ectra strap around the top of each like I did on my last one? I'm not sure on the terminology of these two techniques. I've heard butterfly and bow tie.

Yeah, just like you did, if you have that many straps and winches. I didnt. I just did the best I could. Got it delivered safely. Just wasn't very pretty.

Oh ya. I've got 16 winches on my trailer. Plus 2 4 inch ratchets and 2 2 inch ratchets. 4 of the winches were bought out of pocket cause I wanted the extra.

On your bow tie strap (as good a name as any) if you put a single twist in each side of your strap, where the strap crosses itself, in the coil eye, the two parts will touch flat. With out a twist, they'll touch edge to edge. And a newer, and very tight strap can cut itself as they rub edge to edge together. Or just stuff a hunk of carpet, cardboard or something in between.
