What? Seriously.... If you have to take an advance for anything but to replace the GPS you broke... then you are with the wrong company...

Like other have said $700 a week is decent money for a high school education. Werner is just above Average for their CSA, which means they pass more inspections... common sense tells you "better inspections, better equipment"

Im not telling people to go to Werner, I make no money off of this... but there is no reason to go LESS than Werner. Werner is right in the middle, why the hell would anybody in their right mind go less than the middle? Really...

Every company has a CSA score, it will tell you how nice the trucks are by the inspection scores, how good their training is by the unsafe driving score, and other stuff...

So, look for a company with low CSA scores, the lower the better... and if you cant find one or you arent making $700 a week... why the hell would you not go Werner and have the freedom they offer?

I mean, I left Werner a month ago... Ive been in a hotel looking for new companies for a month... Im not going to lie to you. They are average, their terminals are ugly and slow... but they pay average and their equipment is nice...

If someone cant get with a good company that pays a grand a week, or they work for CR England.. Hell yes Werner is better!

Werner pays from 24 cpm to about 38 for the best dedicateds, I made 36cpm... if someone makes 24 cpm and does 3000 miles, they make $720. Even if you only average 55 mph at 24cpm, you make 13.20 an hour.

I made $30,000 in the first 180 days of this year when I was training 15-16 hours a day. I was offered 38cpm to train for Lowes... for all miles, student and trainer. And people say Werner doesnt pay. Not true.

The truth about Werner is that the OTR pays really low, I dont know if they are trying to test students, but they pay them like 24cpm a mile for the first 6 months and then the good ones go to dedicated at much higher rates and better dispatchers.

The real reason I post these, is because I hope to get a student who had some common sense... and so that people are prepared when they come to companies.

I love training, but I hate to see students who are so ignorant that they cant handle OTR. If I can help a student make it, Im also helping a trainer, and I love to do both.

Really, I just wish students were a bit more prepared, ready for the breakdowns and the paychecks all over the place. If I can help another trainer, it would make my day...

Im retired, almost a week now. 35 years ago, I wondered what the rest of the USA looked like. Always a loner, a truck was a good fit for me. Put it on the trailer, or remove it. I'm a lone Wolf, a Woman caught. She was with me a long time. It is the best life I know of.

Get all the endorsements, but, especially the tanker/hazmat. Also, get TWIC. Get a passport if you want Canada runs. Now, the good money is flatbed or tanker. Lots of tanker and flatbed work in Texas and some of those companies hire new CDL graduates. The pay will usually be over a grand a week. I'll list a few:

    Schneider (tanker division)
    SVTN
    CTL (tanker)
    System Transport
    Melton Truck Lines

Don't settle for the mega-starter companies; you don't have too!

That's good money for pizza delivery, but that varies by location.

What pizza place do you know you can make 700 a week delivering pizza? Have you ever delivered pizza before? Can't blame you for dreaming.

I read all the fast food people were on strike. I don't know if a pizza can be had this week. Guess I will have to make do with the T Bones, Chicken & ribs I have in the deep freeze. :biggrin_25525:

I don't mean to speak for Lucar... but this is an awful long winded response to something he did not say... I am pretty certain when he said advance he meant career wise... getting ahead, moving forward, etc. Not taking a cash advance.
