Ok, here is a situation. I had a truck driven by a driver who worked with me on split profit bases
for more than a year making good money (probably more than a lot of drivers who work for a company)
I bought a new truck for him this summer in hope we will have a long relationship and both will benefit in a long time.
More than a month ago he did his last load, got his part of the money and stop picking up a phone.
In a few days I start calling all his relatives to figure out what is going on, no one pick up a phone.
Week after I got a call from this driver and he said he had some family problems but now everything is
Ok and he wan to get back to work in two days. Ok , I got him a load and called to dispatch him, but
nobody answer. Ok, I thought , maybe more problems... In a week he called me and told he moving out of state
and will not work with me anymore, I told him to bring my truck and trailer back but he refused
because its too far 2500miles, so I told him to drop it off on a yard 90 miles away from him, he said ok.
but never did. He called and said he will drop it off next monday. Ok next monday- no truck and nobody
anwer a phone . After few unanswered calls and voicemails I got txt message "your truck at ...an address
2650 miles away from me..." still no answer on a ptone.
So now, I had no truck in my posession (for more than a month)
I have an address on another part of the countr, but I'm not even shure if its still a same truck
    (not parted out)
    I have non answered phonecalls.
So what whould you do in my situation?
Take a lose , go pick a truck up an move on , even if truck being driven all month without my knowledge etc...
Or do something else to give some troubles to that driver?

Where is the truck now? Report it stolen to the local state police. Just tell the local cops what's going on, it's nothing they can't handle.

Give his full name to the police, they can find it.

Is this not abandoning company equipment?
Assuming this is how it all went down, seems like a good time to call DAC to me.
I agree though, call it in so you can get it back. If the rig isn't in good shape etc, get a lawyer and go after the money.

Thanks for posting. This is a good reminder to delay settlement checks so that if he wants his last pay, he must bring the truck back.

sad that there are people like that in the world

if two people dont get along or one has problems or whatever, man-up to the situation

avoidance is such a cowardly way to handle situations

    Here is an update.
Local police said whey will not file report for stolen vehicle since he gave me an address, advised to call PA local police office close to that address so they can check if its there.
After I called them, they check that address and confirm, truck is parked there! Advised to pick it up and check if something is wrong with it (stolen, missing parts) when file a report and sue a driver.
    Now waiting on lawyer's opinion...
