I got it now!! Lol. Wife’s got good bennies. Bug the Truck and do your thing. You’ll figure it out quick.Just keep financial exposure to a minimum, explain to the wife, potential of financial disaster, Lol. Going back seems a bit humiliating, especially when working for an ###hole. I’d say you’re lucky to have choices. Some don’t. Good Luck. Get your own Truck and make your own choices for better or worse. Its not as complicated as some make it out to be,
What would you do???

Haul the milk......a good boss is important. With that income and a good boss, I would not buy a truck yet. Wait a year and learn the business. Learn the way milk is bought and sold, and how do you get your own route? Do you want a small fleet of trucks, or just one truck?
If you buy a truck, what will you do when your tractor breaks down? What if your tractor is in a wreck? Will you buy your own tanker trailer? Will you buy a used tractor or trailer? Will you do your own oil changes and minor repairs? Your tire replacements? Your brake lining replacements? Your filters? Everything on your truck can break..... Do you want to have all the risk of owning a truck?
What if you are sick, who will drive the truck?
The two small operators I drove for hauling milk had about 6 trucks, and both did farm pickup and transport to plants in a tri-state area. Both were good jobs.tramm01 Thanks this. -
You'll deal with the douche a lot more than with the A-OK bossman. A douche will always be a douche.
What's the wife's input?tramm01 and dngrous_dime Thank this. -

Without knowing the history with this FM, it is difficult for me to advise. Either way, the money looks good. I guess it is my age and years in this business. I think you should really give the small stuff major consideration. A FM can cause major problems if they are gunning for you. I don't care how stand up the owner is. The FM is the one around the owner more. I would not make any decision that you can't extricate yourself out of easy. In the end, you are going to do what you are bound to do anyway. I go through something like this at least once a month. Then later I hear, "I sure wish I had listened". I don't say I told you so's, I just start trying to fix it. All I am saying is give everything 2nd and 3rd thought's, give this FM some thought as well. This is all I can tell you. It is also what I would do as well.
