he's not.
If the DOT (the only road authority to have the authority to shut down a highway for any time over 2 hours) shuts it down, you aren't going down the road. Doing so will get you ticketed.
If the road is still open and he makes his own decision to shut down, THAT will get him in hot water.
I'd like to see a case example of a driver who has been arrested for stopping due to weather though to believe he's going to jail from being arrested. THAT I call ######## on.
What would YOU do?

Did a quick google search, and came up with this:
http://about.usps.com/suppliers/becoming/statement-of-work.txt
which contains this:
While this document pertains to the scope of work for USPS line haul contractors, I would not expect the job description or procedures for USPS employed drivers to be significantly different. And no mention of Federal prison in that document. -
the same reason the military doesn't have em.
And you can't tell it doesn't have a license plate because the front bumper is clipped in the picture.
MN DOT and all states are also exempt as you are claiming as well.
But that still does not relieve you of the FMCSR if the dept states so.
Somethings they choose to force on your just like the rest of us. Like pre/post trips and also following all motor vehicle laws.
I know. I've worked for the DOT. -
You call the OIC or the CO and tell them you need to deviate from the route due to road/weather conditions.Everett Thanks this.
-
O
I never said I was exempt from all regs. Reread my posts. Also traffic laws are not dot laws. Pre trips? Take a look at my truck. I'm a local driver..No logging is required.p -
I'd keep going....slowly...but i'd put the #### video camera down and concentrate on what I was doing.

You won't go to jail but you must explain in the remarks section of your log book what happened cops won't say a word.Whenever something happens beyond your control, always make a note of it on your log book.
-
Partially correct....
When EVER something happens. In your control or not. Make a note of it.
These are legal documents and can be called into question in a court of law months/years later. -
why do you think he's canadian..
-
When I made that comment, I watched another video that he had linked on his page that was filmed in Alberta and assumed it was him. After going back and looking again, I realize it was NOT him - so I can't prove he's Canadian.
The reason I mentioned it is that I suspect that Canadians have more experience driving on ice (and are more comfortable with it) than most Americans.
