That right there says enough about that carrier that I wouldn't be driving for them. A decent company would offer a "finders fee"....possibly going so far as to pay a small percentage of any revenue earned by hauling for a new customer to the driver who brought the business to the carrier. That would encourage drivers to be the "eyes & ears" finding freight for the carrier to keep revenues flowing, and at the same time discouraging drivers from doing precisely what you are considering doing....using THEIR equipment (the truck isn't yours until your name is on the title), running under THEIR numbers, without compensating THEM for that use.

At the end of the day the goal is to have the title and run under MY NUMBERS.... This is BUSINESS not a GAME....... They let me get a foot in the door and what i do from there is up to me..... And thinking i'm SCARED that someone is watching my post is STUPID..... THIS IS ONLY ABOUT MY BOTTOM LINE................. RED OR BLACK HOW DO YOU WANT YOUR CHECK BOOK TO READ.

The real question is who the OP is with for the LP. If it's a small carrier who actually does the LP so a driver can own the truck, cool. They should go along with him. If it's one of the thousands who LP as just a way to make money, ( the driver is never really going to own anything) then the OP has every real reason to be concerned. In that case the company could "backdoor" him, send in someone else to pull these loads whenever they felt like it.

I never said you were scared that somebody is watching your posts...only that a good company utilizes their drivers to help bring in new customers and compensates those drivers accordingly when they do generate additional business for the company. You stated your concern that if you turn this contact over to the carrier in order to do things the proper & legal way through them, they will "backdoor" you and you will lose out without ever being compensated for your time and effort getting this information to them. That a driver should have that concern speaks loudly about the carrier he is associated with.

You are correct, though...this IS business, not a game. I choose to do business with people and organizations I can trust. If I'm constantly worrying how a business partner is going to try to screw me, I'll cut them loose and either do my own thing or find another business partner to work with.

You already said it this is business not a game.. If you give them the contacts name.. You aren't going to get squat for setting them up.... Here is the real problem if you give the the contact they are going to put everyone else on the freight you found...While some guy in sales gets a commision for finding a new Contract.. and if you raise to much stink about it they will mess up your lease purchase..

    He's in a L/P.

    The company owns him.

There's really nothing he can do without eventually losing the work to someone else.

Get out of the L/P and go out on his own.

Another reason why L/Ps "handcuff" drivers and should be avoided entirely.

That is correct.I have found some of my ''own'' loads and i was doomed.I had to ''run it'' through Landstar..Just like bull haulers wife said.He would have to go get his own numbers and insurance.

If he does not have all that and can not provide that, then i would think he is running the ''loads'' illegal. Why would the customer not want to see this information to make sure the product is covered.?...Something is not adding up with this thread.

    Need more info..
