I would tell them to stick the 0500 load in there ###.Then i would finish the job at the dock your on and go find a truck stop and go get a bite to eat,a nice shower and a good night sleep...

Then i would tell them you will be ready for a dispatch at 0800 in the morning and make sure you let them know..

THIS IS THE WAY IT WILL BE OR YOU CAN DISPATCH A LOAD BACK TO THE YARD SO I CAN GIVE YOU THE TRUCK BACK...SIMPLE..

Inform dispatch you are tired. Do what you can. Eat it in the shorts at the dock. And for god sake Sleep. Leave the dock andock. Nearest safe place to park and sleep.

This is one of the reasons I log on duty when loading or unloading I don't want any gray area. If the company has a problem with it they can go complain to the shipper/receiver about why it took so long. I will burn up my 11/14/70 before I lose one second of my 10 hour break. I do understand why drivers with families to support and bills to pay don't log on duty though.

So I'm not going to rag on anyone only thing I will say is just be honest with yourself if you are sleepy please don't drive period.

Right from the start, you should have let your dispatchers know they were jerking you around. Then it becomes his problem. And if they wake you up while you are sleeping, then log in as on duty for a few minutes when they do, so it screws up your break. That way you have to take a full break later. If you allow this nonsense to go on once, you are inviting it to go on in the future.
