Is that in Chicago. Ive delivered there before. I'm in a day cab and had no trouble but every sleeper was jumping curves and getting all pissed off. That place blows though.
What would you do?

Kinda looks like Ohio, with the wind turbines.... be cool to know. Great thread, tho.

Viota Foods, Nashville. Tighter. No other trucks, or trailers, just employee cars and the Fence From Hell.

If I remember, I'll get pics next time I'm in Pittston....

^^ better than that place in Brooklyn, NY, where that 4wheeler Bitxz got parked in! That thread was closed; search Porkys and you may find. LoL.

Definitely would have moved the tandems on the trailer all the way forward and then attempted this, jumping in and out of the truck to ensure I didn't bump the other side. If the driver of the KW was awake, then I would have asked if he could unhook from it, but not sure as some places, once you are in the hole, and 'secured' in the dock, they will not let you drop a trailer. Could have changed since my time over there, and I was driving reefers, so...yeah.
Otherwise, just drive skateboards. No bumping docks, no closing doors. Much more preferable.G13Tomcat Thanks this. -
First after a few attempts I would have asked the guy next to me if he could please disconnect so I could try again. If I failed after that then yea I would get a yard jockey! That would have gave me too much of a headache to deal with!

I have ten plus years in now. I am sure all of us who have run into these types of docks can see what he is doing wrong. It took me three years to learn to back into a simple dock. Once the light bulb went off, they all are much easier now.
Sliding the Tandems is something that you can do multiple times. You don't have to leave them set the same place the either back. You can ask for help. Most truckers will gladly help. I have even paid another driver to put it in for me. The $20 lesson was well worth it.
Remember no problem you come up with will be brand new. Someone else has run in against it.
A smart man learns from his mistakes, a wise man learns from the mistakes of others. (someone other then my dad said that but my dad sure quoted it a lot.)
Also, remember any damage done to your front bumper was cause by a small animal not that concrete wall.Blackshack46, Charlie Mac and G13Tomcat Thank this. -
I responded before seeing the end of the video. It appears the driver made the correct call there and asked for help. Congrads to the professional truckers who helped and to the professional driver who came to the point to ask for help without tearing up any equipment. Well done.
