    Driving on 54 through Texas doing 65mph (Yes I know the speed limit is 75, but truck won't run 75) and this oversized load coming up tailgating the hell out of me. So, I move over to the shoulder and back down to 60mph. He backs off by a few truck lengths. I move back into the lane and reset to 65. He comes back riding my ### again. I try to call him on the cab, but turns out he don't have one. So, I move back over and he does the same thing. This happened a third time and I gave up. He finally passes me in a no passing zone and gives me the finger. I rolled my eyes let him go on.

    I tried to be nice and get the finger for it like I was the #######. SMH.

    First of all DONT DRIVE ON THE SHOULDER. If he wants to pass you let him pass you at his own risk..

    TruckerPete1990 is telling you right. Not to mention that it's illegal in a lot of places, the shoulder is a good place to pick up nails, screws and who knows what. I stay in my lane and if necessary, back out of it a little when they start their pass.

    I moved over so it would be easier for him to see around and that it was clear to pass. Like I said, I was being nice and most any other driver I have done that for appreciated it. It's a legal move in Texas and I won't do that in states where it isn't legal like Kansas where they have signs posted.

    Lepton1 and CRE Birdman Thank this.

    I would have just kept driving in my lane. If he wants to pass, he will find his place. Once he pulls out and starts his pass I will slow down alittle to make his pass easier....
    Or if i see a truck stop I'll choose then to take a leak and refill the coffee mug....

    Wrong. It's Texas. If you're holding up traffic, the proper thing to do is move over and let traffic pass. It may be an illegal move in every other state, but in Texas, it's the right thing to do.

    No, @TruckerPete1990 was NOT right. Who cares what is "illegal in a lot of places" that aren't Texas. He was in Texas, so you abide by what the law says in Texas...and it is perfectly legal in Texas to move to the shoulder to allow faster traffic to safely pass.

    § 545.058. DRIVING ON IMPROVED SHOULDER. (a) An operator
    may drive on an improved shoulder to the right of the main traveled
    portion of a roadway if that operation is necessary and may be done
    safely, but only:
    (1) to stop, stand, or park;
    (2) to accelerate before entering the main traveled
    lane of traffic;
    (3) to decelerate before making a right turn;
    (4) to pass another vehicle that is slowing or stopped
    on the main traveled portion of the highway, disabled, or preparing
    to make a left turn;
    (5) to allow another vehicle traveling faster to pass;
    (6) as permitted or required by an official
    traffic-control device; or
    (7) to avoid a collision.
    (b) An operator may drive on an improved shoulder to the
    left of the main traveled portion of a divided or limited-access or
    controlled-access highway if that operation may be done safely, but
    only:
    (1) to slow or stop when the vehicle is disabled and
    traffic or other circumstances prohibit the safe movement of the
    vehicle to the shoulder to the right of the main traveled portion of
    the roadway;
    (2) as permitted or required by an official
    traffic-control device; or
    (3) to avoid a collision.
    (c) A limitation in this section on driving on an improved
    shoulder does not apply to:
    (1) an authorized emergency vehicle responding to a
    call;
    (2) a police patrol; or
    (3) a bicycle.

    Acts 1995, 74th Leg., ch. 165, § 1, eff. Sept. 1, 1995.

    While the law does say this they can't give you a TICKET for not driving on the shoulder. Your in a Semi driving 60 MPH on a shoulder is just stupid.. One wrong move you can roll that truck over. Someone pulls out onto the Shoulder then what's gonna happen?
