Driving on 54 through Texas doing 65mph (Yes I know the speed limit is 75, but truck won't run 75) and this oversized load coming up tailgating the hell out of me. So, I move over to the shoulder and back down to 60mph. He backs off by a few truck lengths. I move back into the lane and reset to 65. He comes back riding my ### again. I try to call him on the cab, but turns out he don't have one. So, I move back over and he does the same thing. This happened a third time and I gave up. He finally passes me in a no passing zone and gives me the finger. I rolled my eyes let him go on.
I tried to be nice and get the finger for it like I was the #######. SMH.
What would you have done?

First of all DONT DRIVE ON THE SHOULDER. If he wants to pass you let him pass you at his own risk..
driverdriver, Protein Hauler, Toomanybikes and 2 others Thank this. -
TruckerPete1990 is telling you right. Not to mention that it's illegal in a lot of places, the shoulder is a good place to pick up nails, screws and who knows what. I stay in my lane and if necessary, back out of it a little when they start their pass.
Lepton1, driverdriver, misterG and 2 others Thank this. -

I would have just kept driving in my lane. If he wants to pass, he will find his place. Once he pulls out and starts his pass I will slow down alittle to make his pass easier....
Or if i see a truck stop I'll choose then to take a leak and refill the coffee mug....Ruthless, dale3idaho and Ezrider_48501 Thank this. -
I have a feeling this guy would have gave me the finger either way.
Bean Jr., misterG and passingthru69 Thank this. -

(7) to avoid a collision.
(b) An operator may drive on an improved shoulder to the
left of the main traveled portion of a divided or limited-access or
controlled-access highway if that operation may be done safely, but
only:
(1) to slow or stop when the vehicle is disabled and
traffic or other circumstances prohibit the safe movement of the
vehicle to the shoulder to the right of the main traveled portion of
the roadway;
(2) as permitted or required by an official
traffic-control device; or
(3) to avoid a collision.
(c) A limitation in this section on driving on an improved
shoulder does not apply to:
(1) an authorized emergency vehicle responding to a
call;
(2) a police patrol; or
(3) a bicycle.
Acts 1995, 74th Leg., ch. 165, § 1, eff. Sept. 1, 1995.
While the law does say this they can't give you a TICKET for not driving on the shoulder. Your in a Semi driving 60 MPH on a shoulder is just stupid.. One wrong move you can roll that truck over. Someone pulls out onto the Shoulder then what's gonna happen?driverdriver, Protein Hauler and Toomanybikes Thank this.
