I'm just a simple man too. Although I'm probably gonna end up spending a million on this truck. Went into the shop yesterday needed a pan gasket. Just got off the phone with cat an hour ago. $170 repair turned into $4000+. Needs a pan gasket, seal on the transmission, they ran the overhead again for the 2nd time in since tuesday that was another $500 all because the jakes hanging up and throwing the overhead off they think it might be the ECM that'll tack another $2000 onto the bill. What else oh air pressure warning dont work, fixing the bunk heat so I have fan control, hell to fix the interior alone they were talking almost a $1000. so by my calculations I'm at without the ECM and Clutch and possilbly an input shaft. uh...
$1000+170+500+50+1222+500+650+labor on the clutch and rear main=$4092 and all I thought it needed was a pan gasket. Today is one of those days I'm wondering why I do this...and when I climb back in the cab and fire that truck up I'll remember it. Not for the money, not for the glory, and it ain't for the girls guess it's because I love the feeling of sitting behind 600 horsepower and I love the sound of them thundering thoroughbreds going down the highway...oh and gotta love the sound of a jake brake backing off![]()
What yall think about this?

Yes I am currently leased to Malone unlike SemiCrazy. It is a Known fact that Malone is not as good as he keeps trying to say. I am the one leased to them and pulling loads everyday and like I STATED not ALL loads have a fuel surcharge. There are ALOT of loads that just give a flat rate and nothing extra for fuel. Some on here like SemiCrazy might think the flat rate is enough to cover fuel but when you break it down Malone is taking 25% of that flat rate. The flat rate isn't enough for me so I pull for two agents and run from indiana over to ohio and back everyday. I get my flat rate PLUS I get my fuel surcharge on top of that.
Any questions regarding Malone should be asked of the current owner operators running under Malone's authority which I will not be for very much longer as I am getting my own authority and haulin the same lanes as now. -

I have been checking out their load board most of the day and the rate is terriable with the FSC,,the hell without!

Lol the thanks button orks for me. Its trucking i sit there and complain about what it costs and get frustrated but i wouldnt give up my job for anything else in the world. Might change the trailer im pulling, but id never trade the job. Love what i do and wouldnt have it any other way aside from being around more for my sweetheart. But she deals with it well. They aint kidding when they say the only thing tougher than a trucker is a truckers wife.SheepDog Thanks this.

Your shop ( you know, the local shop whom you trust and prefer over all others) or just a random dealership? It sounds like they're running experiments on your bank account. One more thing, if your 600 is really strong( you know what I am talking about) you may as well go ahead and go with that Lipe clutch. A 2450 clutch will hold, true but that Lipe starts at 3000ft lbs.379exhd Thanks this. -
Actually, the highest LIPE is rated for 2,400# torque (LIPE 1) and the other is 2,000# (Lipe2)

Nebraksa Machinery Company aka NMC CAT in lincoln, NE that's who's working on it. South side sales and services is where I usually take the truck down in beatrice, but they couldn't get my truck in thursday and I was hoping with just a pan gasket to get it back today turned into a bigger headache than I had though. I trust cat but at $94/hour labor. They're SUPPOSEDLY running a special on clutches right now and I couldn't get ahold of a lipe clutch for another week or 2 so they're throwing an eaton in it 1050 labor included. They're supposed to check the ECM tomorrow for the jake and I'm kinda torn. Be nice if that was it because it'd solve the problem. But that's another $1500 in parts, another hour labor for testing, and another hour to put the new ECM in and they're running out of things to check that would cause the jake to hang up. I give them till monday to figure it out if not I'm asking mr. haney he otta be able to tell me what's wrong with it. Think he's forgot more about cat motors and trucks than half the manufactures know

That's a really good deal!!! I just had my clutch replaced and a new input shaft, rear main seal, throw-out and some other things and it ran me $2,700
