there are tank outfits paying 75% if you search hard enough. problem is they spread the good loads around and/or give them to company trucks. i finally got tired of all the petty bs and activated my insurance, in order to activate my authority. 40-25% of tank freight is too much $ to give up. not to mention it is worth doing better for your family
-
it depends what part of the country the load is in . California has their own FSC west coast is different. Then there are the other regions .. Each is different. There is a pneumatic company that pays 1.57 for all miles CTS. If I remember they're out of Kansas someplace.. Let me ask you where is your friend located? That may help finding something better than what you first asked about.
-
You normally are more than 50% loaded. They have some dedicated that normally pays better. And then if you friend lives in California there is latex. You have a light truck requirement, and will make about 50% empty. Their guys seem to like it, and they seem to stay busy.
-
Boy most of the % tank rates that I've seen are 65%.
-
Ok but not great. cant count on getting hazmat loads and bonus all the time. doable with light loads, drop and hook, long runs and paid off equipment which owner maintains himself
-
I don't understand why people think it is "doable with paid off equipment". So, eventually, you will need to pay for another truck. I guess that is when you go to your customer and say "I have truck payments now, I need more coin." Which is when they say, "I thought that was factored into your rate already??" Maybe the truck payment will come out of the wages the owner is paying himself. Staying in business by consuming your asset is what that is.
Freightlinerbob, SL3406 and rollin coal Thank this. -
You should be able to get 3500/week. Thats a little short on mileage unless it pays unloading and you have lots of stops. We got 40/stop and would have 25-40 stops on sometimes. It sounds good when you get that much but it is purely a workout and takes 2 days to get it all off.

So,
1.62 per mile
2800 miles per week
$4536 gross
1624 fuel
$2912 NET ?
2800 miles @50MPH average 56 hours Thats 6 DAYS with no load/ unload time.
$2912 Net
/ 56 hours
$52 per hour for YOU and your truck?
You can make far more and be home by 6pm every night. I dont get it, PLEASE show me how I am way wrong.CbarM Thanks this. -
I guess if his expenses are under 80 CPM then its OK, which by the way is NOT possible, but if his expenses are 1.20+ CPM then its a horrible deal. Your friend needs to know what his operating costs are and how much he aims to make for his company and then he will have a much more informed decision.
