Also remember. Some states have a nasty fine for truckers whom get lost for trying to use a faulty GPS. Some of those fines are close to 5grand. An expensive cost because some one didnt want to learn to do it the old way.

Also when you get close? You can call out on the CB and ask for particulars about the delivery. Locals may know of construction or something that may have changed recently.

‘Hammer’ is a good truck quality app. Gives alternate truck friendly routes also if available. Google maps is good but check route with calling the Plant. Google isn’t truck specific….
I have a phone holder on my dash so I don’t have to hold the phone.
I was a loyal Rand McNally GPS user but I’m sick of their crappy electronics ####ting the bed after a year or two. I just got a Garmin 7 Desl… too soon to give a review but I like the larger font it has compared to the RM
When in doubt of a proper truck route, I always go to a phone call to shipper/receiver and google maps to plot my way in and check out the street view to see turns, signs, gates and parking etc….

    Ke6gwf Thanks this.

I wonder why … I wouldn’t want to eat a deceased cow meat with a possibility of it being tainted.

I use Google Maps on my phone and Rand Mcnally truckers atlas. The atlas will show me the truck routes, bridges, etc. and google maps for the last mile. If in doubt I just call the customer.

I'm still using a first generation dezl.
Got 500 customer waypoints in it but mostly use it for eta's and it does a decent job if you don't need a laptop size screen.
