what's going on with fedex freight?

Freight is slow during march to July drivers are picking there noses because business drops off every year...... Contractor 4 years at fedex ground...

 

FXF pays me for everything I do. I have never seen anyone "forced" to drive on ice all night. All a driver need do is call Central and tell them they are parking it due to unsafe conditions. Never been an issue. Perhaps having facts to back up your statement would be helpful.

 

The same goes for Fedex Ground they give you the option to say no if the weather is bad. They say " we trust YOUR judgement" meaning if you don't know what the weather is like they won't say anything if you accept the load. So be smart check the weather channel or use the internet to look up the weather forecast for your route. Also I thought we were talking about the lack of freight at fedex not weather issues? Fedex buys lots of contracts but none of the contractors at my terminal are getting those runs. Instead they are subcontracting other major companies to do the extra work..... Thats what got me annoyed. I have 4 trucks and a few workers and I can hardly keep the wheels rolling to get some money.

 

Yea I was the same when I worked for FDX ground driving a step van, theyd give you the option, whatever you couldnt make for whatever reason was ok. The terminal wouldnt care if I choose to stay home but my contractor got furious

I tell you, you FDXG and FDXF guys EAT UP i84, I got my llittle volvo doing 35 up a hil and you guys just FLY by

 

Profits are down 31% last quarter so they are slow, but I bet all the people in the head shed are still taking in a steady check with no dips.

 

I've worked nights since I was 18 so it doesn't bother me too much. Plus majority of my friends worked the same hours so we are normally all around the same times

 

still better than a sleeper in some smelly lot lizard infested, pee smelling truck stop. you can eat a good meal, hot shower, relations with your lady friend...ill take that anyday.

 

Actually, it isn't a bad life. IF you work your life around your job. Sure, you work while most sleep, and sleep while most work. But that really is sort of a blessing. I found that sacking out when I first get home, got me enough z time, plus left me late afternoon and evening to spend with the family.

I wasn't in trucking when I worked a straight night shift. But it works out the same.
