Said exactly what I was thinking... the gf work 11-7 then goes to class 8-12, normally when Im off work is around 12-1 as I start at midnight. We are able to eat, do what ever for the afternoon, then normally around 3 I go to sleep. Its nice being able to eat good food, save money, not live with trucks all around you, use your own bathroom and being able to do things you wouldnt be able to do while on the road.
what's going on with fedex freight?

To each his own. I prefer to set my own driving schedule, work a few days, take a few days off and enjoy myself both on the road and at home. When was the last time one of you line haul guys stopped for a couple of hours to take a hike, go fishing or explore someplace you have never been before?
Driving is a second career for me. I didn't and wouldn't do it in my 20's. -

I dont think I could ever do OTR though. But some people like it others dont. Plus Im usually on midnights so Im not driving at night only. Almost had a bid sun-thurs 7am start... but some old grump took it because he was mad a newbie like me there took it. Oh well.
Keep on trucking and keep the shiny side upFuelinmyveins Thanks this. -

I will say this though, my uncle was a local guy for many many years... He worked for Yellow freight when it was Yellow, he did some ma and pop trucking local companies. About 7 years ago he moved to Florida. After his kid moved out and away he decided to look into OTR as he figured hes by himself all the time, jobs are getting harder down south, so he decided to go to Heartland Express doing Regional... didnt last long as the recruiter made BS (no offense to any one who likes it there, just what I heard) now he works for another company, he mainly does all around I95 on the east coast, out for 2-3 weeks, home for a few. -

I certainly do enjoy my day time gig.I stay out once in a while but the comforts of home keep me close.
I've seen alot of UPSF wagons pulling all sorts of freight, even some parcel, though I think it's just due to volume. We stay busy and I'm low on the pole yet work 6 days a week. Word on the street is a strike is coming.....you can see UPS corporate gearing up for it.
