Here's the deal guys. When I bought the 359 I had just sold a couple trucks and paid cash. It was invest in something else or pay Capitol gains tax on that money. I had several trucks running and it just sat in the barn. Only used when I was on the pavement and no rain. I'm down to only a few trucks running and I need to be in the road more myself now. The 359 is too nice to work full time. It's only got 600k original miles and is in show condition all the way down to full chromed motor and alternator, etc. I need something I can work and that truck needs to be kept the way it is. See my predicament?

It's too nice to work but no good to ya when it don't make money. I just got a soft spot for old iron. If the domestic authorities would approve I'd have 15 trucks in the yard.
Anyway a friend of mine paid 30k for a 93 ext hood 379 just last year. Paint is good, nice truck, c model cat, 9spd however the trans needs a rebuild. It ain't mint by no means but not ragged out. It seems pre 2000 trucks are going up and folks will pay a premium for em

You are correct. For the last few years it didn't matter, we were making good money. Now it's different.

I look at it this way for the type of truck you are looking at

What would you sell that truck for completed the way you want it?

How much will it cost to get the truck to that point?

Good price is your sell price minus your fix up costs minus sometimes extra just in case value.

It is difficult to keep emotions out of the decision when you like the looks of her. Glad I got mine without ever seeing it. A friend had looked it over already.

I know getting parts for my 359 from peterbilt can be challenging. I'm curious to know if the demand for pre egr trucks rise if the part issue will make come back as well

The old 359 will only appreciate in value ... especially if it's a numbered 87. If I were you I'd do everything I could to hang onto that gem. Do you have pics?
