Flatbed that lane pays $700-$850 from Houston to Dallas the return load pays $350-$500 but you can't do the turn in a day that's why most don't do it

This is exactly the problem with reefer but the rates are reversed, more coming south. If you could do up and back every day you could make a killing and be home every day but most of the time you can't. I occasionally will find 2 loads I can turn but who wants to run for $500-600 a day average when you can't.281ric Thanks this.

Mexican food, BBQ, Lone Star beer and cheap diesel! What's not to love?
The one thing that wierds me out is the way they drive on the shoulder at high speeds to let others 'pass' without actually changing lanes. It's not safe at all and the stones that they kick up off the shoulder will break your window. They have plenty of real passing zones on those long rural 2 lanes. I just don't get it. -
Just relocated from 35 years in PA to little town 1/2 way between Dallas and Houston. Many choices, surely you can find something that will suit.
Happy camper here. -
Ain't that the truth...If you not out of Houston by 3pm then that left leg is going to get a work out...and morning traffic. .smh I don't even bother

i'm guessing part of the reason there are so many loads available is that a lot of texas truckers have headed to the oil field

There is no big problem. It's just Houston traffic sucks and is always in some spots. You can't always get two loads (legally). That and you can't be afraid to let the truck run. Going double nickel or 65 won't cut it. Otherwise, you can make good money doing regional/ intrastate.
