Apparently not. Knew nothing about the Paccar engine until this very moment.
Detroit, Cat, and Cummins offer far more horse power than a 13 Liter can put out. What is the advantage to a Paccar engine then? Just to be able to say you have one?
Volvo has been putting Volvo engines in Volvo's for years...but there's no way anyone can brag about THAT.
What's the best tractor?

Advantage.................price point for fleets ordering multiples..............the MX 13 is a tad lighter and cheaper than a Cummins. Detroit and Cat naturall are not options in new T660, 680, etc.

The one that gets you home every night.

The only engine that you can get in any manufacturer's truck is the Cummins ISX. You want a Freightliner or Western Star with big power? Order a 600 horse DD16. Want big power in a Volvo? Order a 600 horse D16. Big power in a KW or Pete? Order the ISX at 600. Big power in an International? Same answer. Be aware, though, that the days when bigger was always better are pretty much gone. All of these big block engines have their own specific problems. Freightliner/Western Star are pushing the DD13 pretty hard right now. Probably 80% of the Volvos you see out there have the D13. The PACCAR MX is a 13 liter. The MaxxForce is a 13 liter. I'm really not sure why people still want the big engines with big power to do OTR.... one of (if not THE) best OTR engines ever built was the old 12.7 liter Detroit Series 60.
