I ran 39 hrs one time and another time I ran from Tulsa OK to L.A. CA. I would never do that again and when I did it they were both done back in the 70's. The one from OK was driving stright trough but the one with 39 hours was stopping and unloading and going on. I was out of Jacksonville FL. then and driving troughout the southern states. I was so tired that I knew I had to stop but the road I was on (U.S.40 in southern MS.) had no where to pull over. It was 3 am and I was really getting bad and out of nowhere a reststop popped up and even had an attendant with hot fresh coffee. I told him he was a life saver.

In the day..I use to run from Jacksonville, Florida to LA in about 52-56 hours. Ford WT9000 (250)with no AC. and if you stopped you couldn't sleep it was to hot in the summer. 3 years a go I ran from Gainesville, Fl to Portland, OR in about 2 1/2 days and never went faster then 65 MPH. But that was in my personal set of wheels. Does anyone Remember sleeping on top of the load or trailer. it was cooler then trying to sleep in the truck. Talk about a sweat box. and we want to call those the good old days? I'll take the Ac anytime and when my day is done I can sleep.

I do not know if I should laugh, or be mad at the all the cow manure on my screen. I can say this though, I will never tell how far or how long I broke the law on this or any web forum.

There are people out there who I know and they know me, and we have had some great times rolling down the highway. But Never did we ever brag on the CB or in the trucks stops. So I sure as heck would not brag on here lol. Never know if ya get my drift.

Thats why you only speak of trips 10-15 years ago, not last weeks trip LOL

Back in the 90s I did Salinas Ca to Boston overnight with just one piss break/fuel stop in New Braska. Top that!

If you have never used amphetamines while driving there is no way you can relate to what someone who has.I do not recommend them in anyway nor have used them in many years but I have when they were common. When I did I would do what many of you don't believe here and turn around and go back.

Yep, it's pretty easy to tell the men from the boys - the men ain't talking. Anyhow, there's nothing really impressive about those one-trip-wonders. Anybody can do something once. But you take some of the older hands that used to do those 5,000 mile weeks - week after week after week - those were some truck drivers worth admiring. I got a feeling YOU know exactly what I'm talking about. LOL
