If companies wouldn't haul for cheapo rates then fuel mileage wouldn't be an issue. My truck will sit in the driveway for anything less than $4 a mile. BTW it don't sit very much, and it's 24 years old.
Whats up with 62 mph?

A lot of the gripe and complain of trucks being governed @ 62 could be solved if drivers would read signs, and have a little bit of courtesy. Instead, there is a major lack of that, and I am pretty confident in saying that 99% of the people complaining about governed trucks would agree.
My truck is governed @ 73, and I pretty much do the speed limit where ever I go. But as someone previously said, if the guy going 62 would slow down a hair to let the guy going 63 over, then he wouldn't be in the hammer lane for 5 miles. Or if you guys governed @ 62 wouldn't drive in the middle line 10 miles before your exit..
If I see a guy riding my tail, and I am in the middle lane, or the hammer lane, I do everything possible to let him pass or get over. Courtesy goes a long way. Read your signs, and pay attention to the lanes.
If everyone did this, there would be no need to have a debate on whether or not it is safe.
In the end, it may only be about ourselves, and what is on OUR own paycheck.. but that doesn't mean we can't help each other out, or be courteous in the process.
I am a local driver, and have only been driving for a little over a year, but even I have seen the major decline in the brotherhood of Truck Driving. We are all out there for the same thing, and all have to contend with the same problems, and the same idiots on 4 wheels.. So why not help one another out?Mattchu Thanks this. -

If I was a company driver I would not work for a company governed at @62 mph thats insane to me....that being said since I pay the cost to be the boss and the good lord gave me good common sense, I drive @62 every opportunity I can, I dont drag race with morons cause if I drop it in the big hole watch out now, I know how to follow the flow of traffic when necessary, I would say 90% of the time im a good boy. Dropping my speed put a lot of change back in my pocket from 5.5 to 6.8-7.1. I am a professional, I dont trash around in truck stops (casinoes is a different story), and I dont have to run a tattletale system, so a little extra time doesn't bother me.
