That diagram is wrong labeling the jug handle as "incorrect." It might be very correct especially in the event of a tight intersection with a 4 wheeler pulled up beyond the white line or where you can't buttonhook the turn for some reason. Either could be appropriate depending on the intersection and traffic at the time.

Very rarely have I heard the term myself to be honest. Most people I know call it a “J hook” turn. But they know what it means.

If you can speak english youre already in the top 1%

I assumed "button hook" is like a blocking right turn. You swing out to the left so your rear blocks a car from trying to get inside your turn.
Lonesome Thanks this. -
I don’t know what a button hook is because I’ve been driving twin stick k dubayahs since I was 13 with double 53 footers and a spread axle converter dolly up a mountain in reverse with no Jake or power steering cause imma real driver.
this forum, I swear..:.Bud A., Jamie01, hotrod1653 and 2 others Thank this. -
I for one bow to your superior skills.
May I learn your ways wise one?

LOL---- DOT made that illustration. It is in the CDL Manual for every state.

Button hooks as the 21st century schools now call it don’t work very well with old school long trucks with manual steering boxes. You have to start the turn from the left long before that.
