I been training flatbed for a few weeks now off/on using my vacation in a 02 pete so I understand limited space. But the guy that is training me, hopefully after the first will be my boss, made it perfectly clear at the begining, if you need it use it.

I brought a small cooler, igloo style, last trip trying to learn to live off a smaller budget and he let me know hey just plug in the fridge and put your food in there. Also there is water ect if you need it. If its in my truck and you need it use it.

And I understand the trainers have bad experiences with other trainees I went through this a lot as a leo trainer/fto BUT I chose to continue training much like these guys and wiped the slate clean with each person.

Im not meaning to bad mouth or run anybody down, I just think it can be made a more positive experience for the new guys/gals. As I am finding out learning to drive one of these big beast is stressful enough without worrying if I can charge my phone...

as a trainee, I contacted my trainer a few days before meeting. I made sure what I could and could not bring. My trainer had no restrictions on me. We pooled on food and he even took me out to dinner my first and last days on his truck. We had fun and it only took us a few days to figure out the best way to work together.

It also helped that he was clean and wanted to skip no more than one day on showering. Neither of us stunk and we would each run off and do our own thing on what little down time we had.

It was a good experience, but I don't think I could be a trainer. I would be too nervous and I've seen some of the new hires. Smelly and scary, they are.

I'm not a trainer but if or when I ever become a trainer,I live by one sample rule,"Treat Others The Same Way You Want To Be Treated".
