Average beef cow weight is 1200 to 2000 lbs. Our trucks could haul around 65k net with 8 axles on the ground.

I spent the day driving around Grand Traverse Bay yesterday

Incredible expensive houses with roads riding along the lakeshore that would make a goat trail in Central America look better maintained .

Driving the main road going around Traverse city requires a visit to the chiropractor afterwords.

But Newaygo has 100s of miles of brand new roads .

The roads in Grand Rapids are atrocious for the amount of wealth in that city.

Surprised Betsy Devos doesn’t have more pull to get some education wealth diverted to the roads.

How about 94 leaving Indiana leading into Michigan.

You don’t need the Welcome to Michigan sign

Your back will let you know you have arrived.

96 out of Grand Rapids to Lansing is just brutal also.

While I have only helped load a few times my understanding is that typically a "lot load" is the unit of sale for cattle. If people are moving their own cows things change a lot as does the "lot load" size based on if they are feeders or fats (live cattle).

    • Feeders (6-8 cwt) the futures contracts are sold in increments of 50,000 lbs.
    • Fats (avg ~1250 lbs) the futures contract increment is 40,000 lbs.

The exact count will change based on age, breed, and feed quality.

Here in Wyoming I have been told that if you are moving full loads you hit the axle limits before the GVW limits. We loaded 82 * 8 cwt calves on a 9' 7" spread pusher tractor and 53' triple axle pot for intrastate moves and where legal.

I would know more but being 6'2" and working in the low roofs of a pot trailer wasn't really working out for me.

I saw a two story (double decker or whatever) pig hauler today in Tennessee. Full of pork product, both levels. Never seen one before.
