Maybe I should reserve my judgment since I have a bit of a temper. I saw a scene in the J this morning that was terribly disturbing. A driver was threatening a shower attendant. Promising to kick his ### the next time he did whatever he did to offend him. The attendant was small, no more than five six and around 140 lbs. The driver was close to six feet and I should say around 190. The little guy was cowed, you couldn't blame him. I watched with some concern, a leftover from a casino security job I had once. The tough guy looked at me and growled "What, you got a problem?" I didn't answer but nor did I look away. He had me by twenty pounds but turned away muttering.

I suppose that the job brings out the worst in us at times.

It doesn't take much effort to say Please, Thank You, Hi how are you today.
You don't burn much energy putting a smile on your face.
Too many sour faces out here, I make it a point when walking in and out of the truck stop to look someone in the eye, give them a nod or a hey how are you doing today.
I also like to hold a door open for people, I get about 2 in 3 will say thanks, the others are head down and ignorant.
We are our own worst enemy at times, stay positive!

Problem with the "automated rooms" is sometimes the system gets "out of time" and they don't have a working dead-bolt, and an attendant may end up opening the door of a room they think is empty.

I notice most attendants will knock first if the door is closed and they think the room is ready for cleaning. I don't know why some drivers close the door behind them when they leave, leaving doubts with the attendant

Going in, closing the door, reopening the door to get another towel, then closing can cause the system to think you're done. ALWAYS use the deadbolt [if it's there and works]. This can stop a lot of these sorts of issues.

New attendants often don't know how to correctly "manage the rooms" by way of the keypad and interpreting the "needs service" screen. Often with new people, you can't trust the "rooms available" or "people waiting" until they figure out how to manage the system. They can get wildly of whack very quickly and stay that way if somebody doesn't know what they're doing.

I can't answer for dicks who berate and belittle people who are just trying to do a job nobody wants to do.

Some people think that's an effective way to motivate people. Perhaps he didn't think the showers were getting cleaned fast enough so he could use one.

    He might be a psychopath.
