Been alot of years since I've hauled jet engines, but like like others have posted. Never throw straps over the engine..
There are to many fine lines just under the cover of the engine. Crimp one and the engine can have a failure..
I see a big claim coming for that person.
What's wrong with this load securment?

Sure you can ,see the picture, he did. Claim will probably max out his cargo insurance, but tarps stayed tight.technoroom Thanks this.

the few times I hauled jet engines the shipper would not let you leave without the engines tarped and secured properly. They wouldn't give you your BOL until you were done, and/or stood there and watched you.
Nothing like having some 18 year old e-2 tell you how to secure your load.

Low end, $2 mil. High end, over $40mil. HUGE claim on the higher ends. Any driver that's ever hauled them is cringing in horror when seeing the pics.

My trailer has chain pull outs so when I tarp something like that you can't see any of my securement.
-
Speaking of e2s, nothing like having a 9k lb hummer with 4 chains on it and they whine about your chqins not being at a 45° angle lol

Is it possible the engines were being hauled back for rebuild?
-
Well, apparently they are now!
379exhd Thanks this. -
Even if they were going for a rebuild, it could of been a minor rebuild.
Case in point. Years ago I lded. a turbine rotor from a power plant going for rebuid.
I made the comment about I really hate tarping these things.
Young ofice guy says it does not need to be tarped, going for rebuild. I said put that on the bills and sign and print your name please. He did. Then he left, I asked the main maintance guy, who was he? His reply was somebody who is going to lose his job tomorrow when you show up with it not being tarped..
The rebuild was for rotor shaft only. So when I show up with no tarps on it, they had to inspect all the blades for rock dings.technoroom Thanks this. -
That motor...was it from TICO Westinghouse? Haven't been there in 4 years or more, but I used to pull those big motors to various power plants in Canada. Sturdier than the jet engines, but they were extremely anal about how they were set on the trailer and tarping them. Something about vibrations wrecking the crank bearings.
