Oh, for the OP, the tires on the dump trailer are likely 11R24.5 and the ones on the van are likely lo-pro 22.5. That, coupled with the camera focal length is what creates the apparent size disparity.
I'd be a little skeptical about using 11R24.5s on a dump. They're not the most common tire, and you really don't want to piss a lot of time away finding a replacement when your truck is being paid by the ton. Finding used runout tires is also much more improbable, and, in the environments that dump trailers are prone to operating in, you're really not all that keen to put virgins all around on them, since there are a million ways on these sites to puncture a tire. To that end, I'd be surprised if they even used 11R22.5s... 275/70R22.5s or 24.5s are much more likely. The dump trailer has more clearance between the trailer body and the tires than the van trailer does between the body and the tires, not to mention that the dump trailer is considerably closer to the camera than the van is, which also contributes to the appearance.
Is this like being sorta pregnant? You're either in the big house or you're not. Not much in between, except the space from one gate to the next.
Nothing is new here... 3 lanes of traffic and a bunch of idiots driving in the middle lane going slow... no wonder why he is tailgating... get in the right lane
I guess it is the focal point. I've seen lp22.5s and 24.5s on the same dual a few times there's only about an inch and a half difference.
I don't know why, but that stretch of I-75 in GA (between ATL and Chatt) is terrible about slow trucks running in the middle lane and forcing everyone else to pass on the right. It's epidemic through there and I don't understand what it is that compels all the 62 mph trucks to get in the middle lane and stay there. I mean sure, there's always the occasional jerk that won't move right no matter where you're at. But on 75 in GA, it's all of them and it's constant. I run thru there often (sometimes several times a week. Came thru there today actually) and it's infuriating.
I don't have any kind words for the man filming. I also would suggest that tractor trailer had tall 24.5 they run them a lot here in AZ. Most day cabs come with 3.90 and higher ratios so a lot of guys run the tall rubber to help with the 75mph speed limits.
That's the type of response that scares me to be out here sometimes. Based on that video I don't believe the vehicles in the middle were running "slow" it appears they were running over 70. Granted they were still holding up traffic but if you are telling me that you need to tailgate at those speeds instead of backing down to say 68 until it opens up. Well I fear for myself and my family out on the road
Agreed! Heck, there are times I will even hop off at an exit to let that particular "pack" get on down the road....then more often than not, eventually end up in another pack of idiots. I like space all around me, and will be the first to make a safe decision to open up that space (regardless of how inconvenient it may be on myself). Been my experience that people are sheep and monkey's. Sheep run in packs...and monkey see monkey do. I am neither...leave me alone, and give me some space....and I will do my best to stay out of "Billy Big Rigger's" way.
