It's more about it being a tourist based economy when the country is trying to recover from a bad reccesion. No jobs, high foreclosures, beggars in every parking lot and street corner. Not that it was a great place to live when it was booming, but at least you could support yourself there.

They gave me a load from Payette to Milwaukee, then Hood River,OR back to Meridian, ID. What the f--- is up with Troutdale, freaking TA is almost full at 3 in the afternoon. Going on hometime, so I am stuck on the West Coast for the next 2 weeks. No offence to you West 11 guys, but I ########## HATE the I-5 corridor.
-
i was there at 1230 last week and was full freaking ridiculous. And i agree with you on the 11 western i freaking hate it and ill be stuck on it for two weeks when i leave tomorrow cause my dad turns 60 at the end of the month so making sure i get home for it
Russjac Thanks this. -
I just google mapped my delivery in Meridian, it is a storage facility, like the kind they open in Storage Wars. Called up the directions on Qualcomm and confirmed it. How the heck am I supposed to deliver there. There appears to be no way to get out once I get in short of backing out into the busy street. We take some screwed up loads.

Oh that should be very interesting. Where are you picking up from?
-
would you recommend may for new drivers.

In my newly assigned rig in lebanon, TN. some quick rundown on the truck with the shop and then should be heading back out on the road ^.^

Hood River, OR near the Dalles. Shipper doesn't have a dock either.

Yes i would. May is one of the better entry level companies. What you decide to do once you get your 1 year experience will be based on your decision on how you were treated and how you like them as a whole
-
May has been okay to me, they have some good programs for starting drivers. There is BS but from what I read about other companies, you will find that anywhere. For entry level, my advice is pick a company that matches what you need the best, and know you won't get most of it initially. Consider things like pay, benefits, hometime, obviously, but also factor in things like where you will be likely to run, what type of freight, what kind of relationship you have with DM's, ect, can have a big impact on your satisfaction with job.
May is a good entry to the industry, but so are about a dozen other companies.
