Okay. I show up, build a set of doubles, run 180 miles, break that set, build another set, run 180 miles, break that set, and go home. $300-350 per night. Big raise coming later this year.

In my 3rd year now. I think I am up to about 230.00 a day, average.

Ive been fortunate not to have my pay affected by this down turn.

There has been some decrease in volume of what I pick up. But the pick ups still have to happen, and my stop pay is a flat rate.

So you are un happy with $1000-1200 a week as a newbie. Guess you have high expectations. Generally those who make more are owner operators

One of the reasons we(Teamsters)have such a good relationship w the company, and a quality contract, is although most plants are union not all are, we don't do a national contract. Ours are tailored for each region and not weighted too heavily w work rules.
IE as a winter plant we can convert mileage runs to hourly for inclement weather or construction delays.
We are one of their most productive plants, based on mileage and product delivered. Due to the nature of the work seniority rights don't apply to daily work.
We bid annually on start time and days off and vacations.
We run 24/7/365 w a start time near every 30 minutes so it takes a bit to get a good time/ days off.
We have tried a daily wash but it was to burdensome and took too long and resulted in too many grievances.
You may run 45 miles today, 600 tomorrow and 1200 w a layover the next, or you may do nothing but road runs or local work all week. Because of the vast customer base nationwide it all equals out pay wise in the end.
If you have hours available at the end of your shift we are encouraged to call for another trip but not mandatory.
After a driver has been around a bit and has a good history there are still many good opportunities out there for drivers and not just union gigs.

Absolutely. I personally enjoy being a Teamster with a 10-15 minute commute, but there is definitely more than one way to be successful in this industry. Lol

    * scarcism* sure it's great pay, and awesome health insurance for the family.
But but but that's union. You have to pay dues, and might have to hold a sign every 4 years.

    LtlAnonymous and Dennixx Thank this.

37% of gross. Up until this cov19 debacle was doing pretty good working 5 days a week, home every night avg 350mi day. Anywhere from 260-500 a day. If i came back empty it was 259$ on 340 mi for 8-9hr day. Usually 2x a week id bring something back so I'd say 350-375 avg across the board

    Dennixx and LtlAnonymous Thank this.
