Lol to get any air from the reefer you would have to cut a hole in the trailer and route air via a fan in the trailer. All air flow from the reefer is inside the trailer only. I would get a generator and a house air conditioner lol put it in the window.

With flats your going to have the roughest time with elements if it's raining, snowing, 100+, or having ingredients 70 MPh winds you're going to be out in it throwing straps chains and.... the best one Tarps. So be prepared. Also backing a split axle is different from backing tandems because your first axle becomes a pivot point, also the heavier you are the less of an angle you want to get your trailer, other wise your going to tear your tires right of the rim of that front axle (so no 90's or u turns) but on the bright side it is more of a 9-5 compared to van and reefer, as in you don't have random appt times (there are exeptions) usually between 7am to 5pm for pickupsale and deliveries.
Skate-Board, JReding and Mr. OBX Thank this. -
With reefer, you always know 2 drivers at a truck stop are plotting your death when they see you backing in between them.
And then there's the thing when fueling the trailer where you have to pull your nose forward and impede drivers walking towards Subway for grub. They are not too happy either.
And then there's 3:30am deliveries that you have to park and then walk your paperwork 1/2 mile only to be told they don't have a door for you yet and will call you when they do.
On a good note, I've noticed that most drivers that have been hauling reefer for years are pretty cool and laid back. I guess you have to be.Rooster1291979 Thanks this. -
Thanks for the good laugh Hick. The sad thing is its all true. Luckily with my company we don't do many appointments before 6am and after 8 pm.

I'm in VA too, you looking to stay around or hit the road? I've done dry van and now flatbed. I've never been a refer guy but used to make a lot of deliveries to supermarket DCs and food service companies so same experience. For me, for now, I'm liking flatbed. No waiting in line for docks when there aren't many which is awesome. Weather can get you but it's still pretty good. My experience with supermarket DC's and food service is WAIT, WAIT, WAIT! Whats especially fun is the extortion with their lumpers. I've successfully told them to eat sh%* on about 90% of deliveries and still delivered. Told them I nor the company will pay them to take what THEY bought. Granted I was an LTL, if I was a refer and doing that normally that would have never worked but I always loved their face when they'd ask me if I had a lumper and said no and I'm not going to, sign here to refuse order and I'll gladly take it back. Douches.
