I dont have much good to say about the paccar MX engines. We have 5 of them and all except the one still on warranty have spent at least a week each in the repair shop for everything from DEF problems(all 5) to overheating, low oil pressure, weak turbo pressure, engine brakes and alot of other small but annoying problems.
I have a friend with a 2012 Mack, mp8 which is the Volvo d13 and he has had very few issues, he's getting some regen issues now but he's past where he is suppose to have the filter cleaned and hadn't yet.. He also had the def light go on, hasn't changed any of the filters yet..... Can't blame that on the engine.
No you can't. I'm a firm believer in getting something done on time if not a little earlier. No excuses for not taking care of your money maker your livelihood.
