I saw the picture of the van ,must of been gruesome - in the front, over the driver on the way to the cargo area, then straight up though the roof - looks like a the whole roof was peeled back.
Wheel fell off.

Years ago Pop sent me to Rome, Ohio to look at one of his trucks. Said the drifter told him the wheel came off. Well it came off alright, hub, drum, both tires still bolted together all gone. Truck only had a 26,000 lbs coil on it at this time. Speed limit 55, and you could clearly see it's path up the side of the hill tearing down brush and small saplings, then down and across the road into a corn field, where it left a path all the way to the Ohio river. No one was hurt but, it could have been avoided. Checking those hubs for excessive heat when you stop is a tell tail sign, yes I know the brakes are hot too at times, just have to use common sense. At times tire wear is a dead giveaway too. Be safe out there.
rolls canardly and 4mer trucker Thank this. -
The clue was "Drifter" and "common sense" in the same paragraph, right?
Bet he checked them after that.
But that's how we learn.
Or as the Old Guy used to say, "Live and DON'T learn." -

Be careful out there; the "what ifs" will drive you coo--coo for coco puffs, too.
Just do your due diligence, and have eyes in the back of your head.
You can lay your hand on a spindle or hub and tell in a second
(from your burning hand) if something's wrong. -

That video is brutal. Feel sorry for the guy. If our leaders were smart..they'd improve our roads and make truck only lanes. Needs to happen with all that traffic out there today.

holy wow; he's lucky it didn't break his neck.
I took his feet up in the air to the height of his knees,
(While smashing his face in the pavement.)
Talk about your day turning on a dime!
She saw it coming; he didn't! -
