I'm trying to find the wheel protector that stops the impact gun from scratching the paint off on a steel wheel or scratching the aluminum wheel. It is round, has 10 holes and slides over the bolts and this is mostly used for stud pilot wheels. How ever, it does go between the duals of aluminum wheels do prevent scratching. Does anyone know what this is called? I've looked under tire service and aluminum wheel accessories and I can not find it any where.

This is called a wheel guard. Search for 10-hole wheel guard. You want the outer one for budd wheels so it fits over the lugs.

The plastic ring scratched the fine jeweler's finish on my wheels especially when any dust or dirt is present so I just made a rubber insert for my 1-1/2" socket to keep edge off the wheel face.

I have the lugnuts that have the built in washers. The washers keep the socket off the wheel and it keeps the nut spin off the wheel.

Thanks everyone for your replies! I have the stud pilot, aka bud wheels. This is where the nuts align the wheel on the hub. I am buying new rims and don't want the paint all scratched up. I'm not using spray paint to touch up either, it looks like crap.
